Matt Payne has snared the provisional pole for the final Supercars race in the Darwin Triple Crown, which Dick Johnson Racing star Brodie Kostecki will miss because of a viral infection.
Payne will be the last driver to have a solo attempt in the top-10 shootout after securing the fastest lap in one minute 6.309 seconds ahead of Sunday afternoon's 200km, 70-lap race at Hidden Valley Raceway.
The provisional pole comes as drivers look to win the coveted Triple Crown, which is given to the racer who accumulates the highest number of points across the weekend.
Grove Racing's Kai Allen currently leads the standings with 175 points after winning Saturday's 200km race, with Tickford Racing's Cam Waters just behind on 170 points.
