MotoGP is due to release the 2027 season calendar next week, but before that, the organization has given us more of an insight into how the next season will take shape. The best news from the announcement is that it's dropping the calendar's most unpopular circuit, Balaton Park, in Hungary, with no replacement named.
The Hungarian Grand Prix only returned to the MotoGP and WorldSBK calendars in 2025, and since then it has had the worst attendance numbers of any round of the championship. That's objectively the best reason to drop the event, but subjectively, I'd say it also has the worst racing of any track in the championship. The layout of the track makes for unexciting racing with very few overtaking opportunities, particularly with the current crop of MotoGP machinery.
