Moto Buds 2 Plus? These leaks say yes, but I need to see more than this

The Motorola Moto Buds Plus in a press render.

What you need to know

  • A tipster alleges that Motorola is working on another pair of earbuds, potentially dubbed the "Moto Buds 2 Plus."
  • The design has been changed slightly, as Motorola reportedly moves into a charging case that makes the buds stand up, rather than lie down.
  • The Buds Plus originally launched in April 2024; however, the Buds Bass debuted in November 2025.

Leaks are (allegedly) starting with a surprise set of images regarding Motorola's next earbuds.

Tipster Evan Blass on X posted some alleged renderings of what Motorola is cooking up, and it looks like it'll be the "Moto Buds 2 Plus" (via GSMArena). The images suggest consumers are in for a slight redesign. The main body features minimal alterations compared to the Moto Buds Plus from 2024, including the stem stabilizer. While the original has its stem directly behind its main body, the supposed upcoming variant positions it more to the side, with its form flowing seamlessly into the stem.

The main body also lacks the charging placements that the O.G. one sports. That's likely because the tipster claims the Buds 2 Plus will offer a changed charging case.

The original model would lie down in the case, meaning its charging connectors were on its main body. This newer model sees them moved to the bottom of its stem, kind of like Samsung's Galaxy Buds 8 series. The renders purport the Buds 2 Plus could offer "Sound by Bose" and offer a secondary color inside the case (blue variations). The buds and the case were shown in a deep blue and white colorway.

It seems that Motorola could continue to offer silicone eartips to help users with in-ear comfort and sound. Blass didn't state any supposed specs for this upcoming model, nor does the post say when we could see them.

Amping up the sound

The Motorola Buds Plus launched in April 2024, dropping official Bose-powered ANC (active noise cancellation). The buds sport 12.4mm drivers with Hi-Res Audio and advanced noise control. While the Bose partnership adds ANC, it also brings in EQ tuning. The Hi-Res Audio was stated to capture a "wider range of sound" with 3x more detail for users.

As Moto dipped into AI, these buds offered CrystalTalk AI for clear transmissions during phone calls and more. With this new model (allegedly) surfacing in February, perhaps we're looking at another April launch. However, it's also worth remembering that we just had a Motorola earbud reveal in November with the Moto Buds Bass.

Android Central's Take

Strangely, I've never dabbled in the earbud prowess that Motorola can dish out. However, I know people who have and the models seem to sport decent sound for what it's worth. Right now, it's far too early to tell what this new model could cook up. Coming off the heels of the Buds Bass, which deliver beefed up sound, a long battery life, and ANC for a cheap price, I'm curious about the Buds 2 Plus. What could they offer and in what way that'll make them standout from the Buds Bass—throw in the O.G. model, too.
