The Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) has recently made significant changes to its board of directors, indicating a promising future for the organization. Previously consisting of 12 members, the board has expanded to include 21 individuals, featuring a combination of existing members from the board of governors and new executives.
Among the fresh faces added to the board are industry leaders Nicole Clemens, President of Paramount Television Studios, John Goldwyn of John Goldwyn Prods., and Maria Rodriguez, a managing partner at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Los Angeles. These new additions bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.
Furthermore, several members have made the transition from the board of governors to the board of directors. Dr. Eric Esrailian from UCLA, Kevin McCormick, Warner Bros. Pictures Executive VP of Production and Senior Advisor, Peter Rice, a veteran executive, Karen Rosenfelt from Sunswept Entertainment, Emma Thomas, an Oscar-nominated producer, and John Wells from John Wells Prods. are all joining the board as part of this transition.
These changes come at a pivotal time for the MPTF as the entertainment industry gradually bounces back from the labor strikes that occurred in 2023. During that challenging period, countless professionals sought support and resources from the organization, while the MPTF itself faced fundraising and other obstacles. However, with the industry's resurgence and a solid financial foundation, the board is now looking forward to a more optimistic future.
Jim Gianopulos, the board chair, and Bob Beitcher, the CEO of MPTF, expressed their confidence that the challenging times are behind them. They believe that this is an opportune moment to strengthen the board by bringing in a diverse group of industry leaders who are deeply invested in the mission and vision of MPTF. Many of the new members have previously served on other MPTF boards and committees, demonstrating their strong commitment to the organization's mission of supporting working and retired industry members.
Nicole Clemens, one of the new board members, expressed her gratitude and excitement about joining the team. She feels honored and humbled to be contributing to MPTF's enduring presence in the industry, ensuring its support for generations to come.
The recent changes to the MPTF board of directors promise a brighter and more prosperous future for the organization. With a diverse group of industry leaders and a renewed commitment to its mission, MPTF is well-positioned to continue making a positive impact on the lives of entertainment industry professionals.
