Motherwell to face Bala Town or Sligo Rovers in Europa Conference League

Motherwell have been drawn against Bala Town or Sligo Rovers in the Europa Conference League.

The Fir Park side took their place in the hat in Nyon for UEFA's third tier competition thanks to last season's fifth place finish in the Scottish Premiership.

And they will face either Welsh or Irish opponents in their first hurdle of their bid to reach the group stage of the competition won by Italian giants Roma last season.

The Lanarkshiremen men were seeded and now take on the winners of the first qualifying round tie between Bala Town and Sligo Rovers.

There were two parts to the draw, the Champions Path and the Main Path, with Motherwell in the Main Path.

Their first game takes place in five weeks with the second qualifying round commencing on July 21 and Motherwell will be at home first.

Second legs follow a week later on July 28, with all Conference League games taking place on Thursdays in line with this season.

Motherwell were in Europe two seasons ago and faced opposite from Northern Ireland in successive rounds, beating Glentoran and Coleraine before going out to Hapoel Be'er Sheva.
