Motherwell stars provided some much-needed Christmas cheer for young patients at University Hospital Wishaw as they dropped in to hand out gifts this week.
Fir Park players including club captain Liam Kelly, star striker Kevin van Veen, defenders Sondre Solholm, Bevis Mugabi, Ricki Lamie and midfielders Callum Slattery and Sean Goss were among the players joining boss Steven Hammell and his assistant Brian Kerr to deliver presents and selection boxes to the children's ward in the run up to Christmas.
Steven Hammell said: "It's excellent to see the work the staff do here and it puts everything in perspective.
"You get a bit emotional when you come up here because you see what the families are going through and the work the staff put in here for the local community and local kids.
"They are no complaining, they have got a smile on their face mostly and it just reminds you about the importance of family, health and happiness at this time of year."
Kevin van Veen said: "It feels good making the kids' day and bringing them presents. Seeing a smile on thier faces is great as well.
"The kids are going through a tough time being in hospital just before Christmas and if we can make them smile I think that is very important."
Meanwhile, supporters also dug deep to donate toys to an appeal launched by the Since I Was Young (SIWY) fanzine outside the Cooper Stand at Fir Park on Saturday, even though their Premiership clash against St Mirren was postponed due to flooding at the stadium.
Spokesperson Derek Watson admits he wasn't sure if fans would turn up, but wasn't surprised to see community-minded people helping others.
He said: "All the guys from Since I Was Young got together to organise the toy appeal.
"Had the game gone ahead there might have been more people. When the game got cancelled I went down to ask if we should go ahead with it, because people might not turn up at Fir Park if there's no football on, but the generosity of the local community is fantastic, and we managed to fill a full van there.
"It was great to see, and it will benefit loads of kids across the community and help out their parents at a difficult time as well.
"The stuff we collected was given to Derek and Helen Hope. Derek is the minister at Motherwell North Parish Church, and there will be people who will really benefit from that.
"They've been distributing all the toys for us across North Motherwell, which has been ideal.
"It's a difficult time for many, so if there's anything we can do to bring people together and make a difference at Christmas then we'll do that.
"The club have done so much throughout this year that it almost seems right that the fans get involved as well."
