Motherwell star in 'all there for us' Europa Conference League assessment as he hopes for 'rocking' Fir Park battle

Motherwell goalkeeper Liam Kelly is glad the Steelmen have their European football hopes in their own hands ahead of a crucial Premiership match with Hearts.

The Steelmen hosts the Jambos in their final home match of this year's league term tonight with a big goal targeted.

Victory and dropped points by Ross County in their trip to Rangers would secure a top five spot and Europa Conference League football for Graham Alexander's side.

They might have only won two of their 16 league matches since Boxing Day, but a spirited 1-0 win away at Ross County means Motherwell control their own destiny.

Kelly knows the Scottish Cup finalists will pose a stern test but a chance to land a fine achievement is within 'Well's grasp.

The 26-year-old said: "We are looking forward to the game. We know it is going to be a really difficult one. We are in a good place and we are positive.

"Hopefully we can get Fir Park rocking for a big game. It's all there for us now. I think the main target for us this season was top six.

"Once we hit that, there was the realistic chance of European football, the same with Dundee United and Ross County.

"It's all there for us in our hands. It will be a really difficult game but one we are looking forward to."

Kelly returned to Motherwell last summer after an initial loan deal in the second half of the 2020/21 term from Queen's Park Rangers.

It has been an enjoyable campaign, but he hopes a packed home crowd against Hearts like the away end at County can make it one to remember.

He explained: "I have loved it here and the feeling will be so much sweeter if we get a result on Wednesday night. A lot of the fans backed us in the game on Saturday.

"I do think that had a massive impact on the performance and the result. If the fans can come out in good numbers, that will be a massive boost as it makes a genuine difference on the pitch."
