Joe Efford is happy to have taken his European tour to Motherwell - and he believes he'll adjust to another new culture.
The American forward has shown flashes of his pace in matches against Celtic and Dundee United after arriving in the January transfer window from Belgian club Waasland-Beveren.
It's his fifth club in Europe after turning down a college football scholarship in America at the start of his career.
Efford is in line to play today as Motherwell face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup fifth round. Scottish football is similar to Belgium according to Efford, making transitioning a bit easier.
He said: "It's been good so far. I think I am fitting in well with the guys. I still think I need time to adapt to the physicality of the league but with my skill and ability, I think I can adjust quick.
"It's been a bit more physical. I didn't expect things to be so strong in the tackle but I am adjusting well to it. I felt like this was a good move for me.
"I want to come in and make a difference to the team. When I am playing in Europe, I want to learn all the systems in the leagues, the physicality, all these things.
"Belgium is very similar to here. The physicality, the tackles, the speed of the game, it's similar. So I am happy to be here."
Efford hasn't had it easy in his career which has had him swap his native America for Europe as a teenager. First, it was FC Botosani in Romania.
Then after his short stint in 2014, he went to Mallorca in Spain before a fruitful stint at Greek Football League side Ergotelis. Efford lasted three years there before Belgium and Waasland-Beveren came calling in 2020, prior to Fir Park in January.
The American added: "I came directly into European football at 17 or 18. It's had its difficulties but it makes you stronger as a person. It makes you grow into the person you want to be.
"I had a few trials in different countries. It was one of the most difficult times of my life, taking those long trips on my own, leaving my family.
"It was most difficult on the first night. You are with your family and friends, then you are alone. It's new people, languages and you don't understand the people.
"I am a strong believer in God. My faith and dream is to not be afraid of challenges and uncertainty."
