Motherwell have today paid tribute to former striker Jimmy O'Rourke, who passed away this morning, aged 76.
Edinburgh-born O'Rourke was best known for his 12-year spell at Hibernian between 1962 and 1974.
He was then transferred to St Johnstone to make way for Joe Harper, who was an expensive signing from Everton, and after two years joined Motherwell in 1976, where he would spend another two-year spell.
Plucked straight from schools' football in 1962, O'Rourke was Hibs' youngest ever player at 16, a record that stood until Jamie McCluskey eclipsed it in 2004.
While at Easter Road he won the 1972 League Cup and scored two hat-tricks for them in European football.
St Johnstone's then-Muirton Park, he helped the Perth side win promotion in July 1979.
Motherwell's tribute read: "Jimmy died surrounded by his family at his home in Edinburgh, aged 76,
"Everyone at Motherwell Football Club would like to express our sympathy and condolences to the O'Rourke family at this sad time."
