Kaiyne Woolery knows Motherwell's trip to Ross County could be a big one in deciding who finishes where in the 2021/22 Premiership - but it won't define the Steelmen's campaign.
The former Tranmere Rovers forward played 80 minutes of their 1-0 defeat to Dundee United on Saturday, as their hopes of finishing fourth took a dent.
Forward partner Ross Tierney hit the post and he cracked the crossbar with an effort moments later, eventually punished by a Dylan Levitt strike before half-time.
Graham Alexander's side are on a poor run of form despite clinching a top six spot this season, having won just once in their last 15 league games ahead of a long trip north next Saturday.
But while four points off United in fourth now with three games to go, they travel to Dingwall just a point behind County in fifth, this term's final Europa Conference League qualifier spot.
It's a big carrot for the Fir Park club according to Woolery, but things aren't falling for them at this moment. It's up to he and his teammates to change that though in pursuit of European glory.
He said: "Of course the defeat disappointing. We had a couple of chances to score some goals. It's frustrating on that part but I thought overall we played well.
"I had one off the bar that I should have kept low and then there were two times where I nearly nicked it off the goalkeeper. We hit the post and missed a header at the end.
"We just couldn't take advantage. Their chance wasn't even really a chance. It's a shot that has been blocked and unfortunately it dips into the net.
"Everything seems to be going for other teams but only we can change things. It's just that final bit we need to add. We are getting into good areas.
"We had good deliveries into the box and deliveries from set-pieces and things, especially in the final 10 minutes.
"Ross got on the half-turn a lot and he had a few chances. He was positive on the ball and a delight to play with. It's just that final contact we need more than anything."
The 27-year-old doesn't want to put too much pressure on Motherwell's Highland encounter, as they still have Hearts at home and Celtic away to follow afterwards.
But given their recent form, he's aware any points on the board will do at this stage.
Woolery added: "If you think of our form, to still be a point off fifth and potentially getting a spot in Europe, it's crazy. So each week we believe we can still do it.
"I wouldn't say it's a season defining game as the one after that is winnable as well. We are only a point off it so hopefully we can pick up a win."
