Boos rang around Fir Park as the final whistle sounded on Thursday night.
Sligo Rovers recorded a famous win over Motherwell to take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their Europa Conference League second qualifying round clash.
But the home fans were furious with what they had just seen and turned on the Motherwell players and manager.

A defensive howler from Bevis Mugabi left Aidan Keena through on goal and he brilliantly lobbed Liam Kelly to give the visitors a shock lead in the 27th minute.
And in truth, it could have been even worse for Motherwell as Sligo looked to have a clear penalty denied late in the game, while the Bid O'Red also had a couple of chances to extend their lead in the second half.
Motherwell boss Graham Alexander pleaded with supporters to keep the faith after the match.
He said: "Keep believing. We understand where we can improve, we did a lot of good things but the game is about winning. It’s frustration that we didn’t win the game. I think we did more than enough to win it.
"The goal speaks for itself. It was a mistake but an honest one. That gave them something to protect. They sat deep at times but we still created enough chances to win the game but didn’t take them. But it’s only half time. It’s still there to try and win."
But a number of fans took to social media to vent their frustrations after the game.
One commented: "I wish I'd stayed at home & set £40 on fire! It would have been easier to watch than that garbage we were subjected to last night!"
Another posted: "A completely flat performance that was devoid of urgency, commitment, imagination & goal scoring opportunities."
Someone else added: "This performance was terrible that team made us look like a kids team. We are doomed and the league hasn't started. My heart goes out to all the loyal fans who did their best before the game to boost the team and that display was utterly shocking."
One other comment read: "Alexander doesn’t know how to set us up to win games convincingly, he’s inept. Time was up in April and it certainly is now!"
