Mother Convicted Of Murder After Confronting Daughter's Sexual Abuser

Crime Scene Banner Picture.

A Georgia mother, Danyale Harris, has been found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The conviction stems from an incident where Harris attempted to confront her daughter's sexual abuser, resulting in a fatal shooting.

According to reports, Harris discovered a video of her 12-year-old daughter engaged in a sexual act with a man identified as 22-year-old Antonio Harley. Distraught by the revelation, Harris reported the incident to the DeKalb County Police's Special Victim’s Unit.

Despite being advised by an officer not to seek revenge, Harris, along with a group of individuals armed with handguns, went to an apartment complex to confront Harley. When Harley refused to open the door, a chase ensued, culminating in a fatal exchange of gunfire.

During the altercation, Harley was shot in the chest, and his brother, attempting to protect his younger siblings, fired back, resulting in the death of Juan Newkirk, a member of Harris' group.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Asha F. Jackson sentenced Harris to life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus five years. Harley, who survived the shooting, faces charges of statutory rape, child molestation, and sexual exploitation of children.

The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of taking the law into one's own hands and the importance of seeking justice through legal channels.
