The relaxation of MOT rules is still being considered by the Government amid the cost of living crisis. It comes after reports in April suggested then-transport secretary Grant Shapps was planning to change the length of MOT certificates.
It was proposed that the certificates could be doubled to two years instead of the current one. This change came in an effort to help people save money.
The Echo reports the RAC still believes the change is under consideration by Liz Truss' government. Mr Shapps has been replaced by Anne-Marie Trevelyan during the Cabinet reshuffle.
