Most Nebraskans who lost Medicaid at renewal under the state's new work requirement were cut off because they did not return requested information, not because they failed to meet the work rules. That finding comes from the first official data released by the state.
Of 533 people denied at renewal in July and August, 490 were denied "for failing to provide requested information needed to verify compliance with, or exemption from, the new Medicaid work requirement," according to draft meeting minutes from the state's Sept. 17 Medicaid Advisory Committee meeting. Only 43 were denied for not meeting, or not being exempt from, the requirement.
