Mossley Park set to benefit from new floodlit football pitch

A brand new floodlit football pitch is set to be installed at Mossley Park in County Antrim.

Plans for the project include an upgrade to changing facilities and form part of a proposed £1.6m scheme.

It is hoped the redevelopment, which was recently approved by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, can be progressed with matched funding from a £5.59m pool through the Multi -Sport Grassroots Facilities Investment Fund.

That funding is facilitated through the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) and managed by the IFA.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, Alderman Stephen Ross, recently visited the park where he met up with club officials and players from Mossley Football Club who currently use the facility as their home pitch.

He said: “This major investment at Mossley Park is a complete game changer. I welcome the new 3G facilities with floodlights which will allow increased match and training capacity, provide an all-weather surface, and ultimately benefit the local clubs, schools, and community groups.”

The Council is also funding 3G pitches at Monkstown, Rathcoole, and Ballyclare as part of a significant investment in sport and leisure facilities across the Borough.
