The city was rocked to its core when news broke that Mortons Rolls had ceased trading but a potential 'investor' could save jobs and give Glasgow back the brand it has known and loved for decades.
The iconic Drumchapel based bakery, formed in 1965 and known for its morning rolls, announced their shock closure over the weekend to around 250 employees who've been left without a job.
It sent shockwaves around the city with Glaswegians sharing their fond memories of the historic bakery.

But, it may not yet be a goodbye as Labour MSP Paul Sweeney announced he has been speaking with "investors" who want to buy Mortons Rolls.
In a tweet last night, he wrote: "I've had a positive discussion today with angel investors who are prepared to buy @mortonsrolls, saving the brand and many of the jobs.
"Time is of the essence to secure the factory lease and jobs. I have requested that Scottish Ministers engage with the investors within 24 hours."
Glasgow Live contacted Mr Sweeney's office and were told it's a 'fast moving situation' and declined to give any further details.
Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken said the priority is making sure workers facing job losses are supported "as quickly as possible".
She has also contacted Mortons Rolls' team to determine what led to their downfall.
In a tweet to her followers, she wrote: "I’ve been updated today by the @GlasgowCC team who are working with national agencies to mobilise support for the #Mortons workforce. Our number 1 priority is to support those facing redundancy into new jobs as quickly as possible and minimise any disruption to household incomes.
"The announcement has come out of the blue. A closure & job losses on this scale is a big blow to the local community & swift action is needed to mitigate it. @GlasgowCC has reached out to Morton’s management & I urge them to engage closely with us for the sake of their workers.
"We will also seek to establish what chain of events has led to this apparently sudden closure and whether any action or support may be provided to save jobs and continue production at the factory in the short term, while a possible longer term plan could be developed."
We have contacted Mortons Rolls for a comment.
