Moritz Jenz has dismissed the level of Scottish football - describing it as a two-team league.
The defender spent the first half of the season on loan at Celtic, but returned to Lorient before being shipped off again to Schalke, after failing to break into Ange Postecoglou's plans. He's been widely praised for his form with the German outfit, who are battling against relegation from the Bundesliga and he's now been tipped for a shock international call-up with Germany.
However Jenz doesn't appear to have been wowed by the standard of the Scottish Premiership when asked to compare leagues in Scotland, France and Germany as he issued a damming verdict. He said: "In France, the players were technically better, but in Scotland, there were only two good teams and everything else was very physical and robust.
"Here in Germany, it's a good mix of everything, I would like very much to stay here at Schalke next season too.
"My ambition is to one day play for the national team. To be able to achieve that, I have to perform consistently in every game. And of course, I also need a bit of luck."
Jenz made ten league starts for Celtic and scored two goals - in his first couple of games for Celtic in wins over Ross County and Kilmarnock.
