Morrisons shoppers have vowed to boycott the supermarket over its "extortionate" prices for coffee. One outraged shopper says she demanded a refund and went to Home Bargains instead when she realised how much she'd been charged.
Angela Howells-Owen says she didn't check the price of 190g jar of Nescafe Gold Alta Rica and was left in disbelief when it was scanned at the checkout. In a post on the popular Facebook page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, she wrote: "Popped into Morrisons yesterday to pick some coffee up (alta rica) got to the till and it scanned at £9.00.
"I obviously queried it and they said it was correct! Got a refund and went to home bargains. Just sharing in case any body else buys it as part of a big shop, I don't always check".

A 190g jar of Nescafe Gold Alta Rica is listed for £9 on the Morrisons website, reports Manchester Evening News. But according to price comparison website trolley.co.uk, it only costs £5.50 at ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Ocado and Waitrose.
In response to the post, Maz Bridgman posted: "Morrisons have been ripping people clean off for the last 10 months that I've noticed. Added an extra £2-4 on average to each item. I've vowed never to step foot in there again."
Gemma Woodhouse wrote: "Does anyone else think Morrisons has put prices up a lot?" Emma Hall posted: "Try b&m as well they can have coffee cheaper in there. I got a large jar of Nescafe Decaff last week for £3.69 compared to double the price in the supermarkets."
Aileen McCallum commented: "Morrisons are starting to take the p*** with their prices on n just about everything. And I'm not talking about 5/10p. Sometimes it quite a bit extra. Soon mounts up if you’re purchasing quite a few items. My dogs food has went up 60p in a couple of weeks, a morrisons loaf from 45-89p. Then had the cheek to put it on offer at 85p. Although its my closest, I’m gonna start shopping elsewhere."
Caz Wainwright added: "Morrisons are going way over the top with their price increases. I've given up shopping there unless its an absolute necessity that I can't get elsewhere."
Julie-Anne Sales wrote: "This doesn’t surprise me. I used to shop at Morrisons all the time but their price increases are just ridiculous. I now prefer Tesco. So much better on prices."
