A man was horrified to spot a piece of plastic in his baked beans as he tucked into his lunch.
Duncan Sloggie, 50, raised a red flag to Morrisons because he felt queasy after finding a piece of plastic in his own-brand beans. The grandad also spied black spots, that he believes was machine oil, all over his beans, which he bought from Morrisons, via Amazon, a week before.
Disgusted Duncan pushed his plate of fried egg and beans on white toast to one side and hopped on a call to the supermarket's customer services team. The dad of two said not to bother with the initial offer of a 29p refund, so a week later he was offered £5 in compensation, which he said was insulting and didn't make up for his missed day of work.

He said he felt ill shortly after eating over half of his lunch before he found the five-pence sized piece of plastic, and was unwell all night. Duncan, a complaints handler from Heywood Greater Manchester said: "It was horrible, I moved my toast and it was just there looking just like a toe nail, it was the right size and shape and it was properly manky.
"It's curved with one open end and it has a little circle imprinted on it so I'm sure it's something that came off a machine. I had stomach cramps all night, I was really quite ill, but I don't know if that was in my head or because of something I digested: either way, it was genuine illness and a consequence of eating those beans.
"I just want to know how it happened and that it won't happen again, and to be honest, I wouldn't mind some form compensation for my trouble."
Duncan ordered the half-can of Morrisons Home-brand beans, one of his usuals, on Monday June 13, and popped them in a pan the following Monday, June 20. He is still waiting for a response from Morrisons' food-safety team.
He said: "I usually do alright with Morrisons but you've got to question the food-safety standards after this. Manky bits of machinery shouldn't be near the food.
"I just wonder how it got past quality control, they must have ways of checking. I'll certainly eat baked beans but probably not from Morrisons.
A Morrisons spokesperson said: "Food safety is a top priority for us and so our team is currently investigating this customer's complaint to find out what has happened. We are in regular touch with him to keep him updated and will share the findings of our investigation with him in due course."
