Morrisons has cut prices on 130 products in its Savers range to offer grocery essentials to shoppers for less amid the rising cost of living.
The supermarket has reduced the cost of half the products in its budget range for the New Year, including fresh and frozen products and cupboard staples. Morrisons said that it has invested over £16 million to help make the cuts in a bid to help households with their food shops after the expense of Christmas.
Introduced in January last year, the Savers range offers Morrisons shoppers everyday staples at lower prices. The budget range includes 263 products, with 28 having been added to the selection within the last six months and further new additions set to be introduced this month including cherry tomatoes, easy peel oranges, green beans and mixed peppers.

Among the fresh products in the range to have had their prices cut are bacon, cooked chicken and cheese, as well as fruit and vegetables including apples, pears and potatoes. Frozen ready meals, fish fingers and prawns have also been slashed along with cupboard fillers like tins of beans, chopped tomatoes and tuna chunks.
Household essentials such as laundry powder, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets have also seen their prices reduced, as have toothbrushes, toothpaste and sanitary products. Shoppers will be able to shop the Savers range online under the 'More Ways to Save' section of the Morrisons website, and in store the seasonal aisles will be filled with Savers products until January 22.
David Potts, Chief Executive, Morrisons, said: “Our Savers range offers customers great value on the products they buy every day. We want to do all we can to help when it comes to the cost of grocery shopping and by investing in the range and cutting the prices further, our customers will see a noticeable impact on their budgets at a time when they really need it.”
