National Fish and Chip Day is a popular annual event that was started eight years ago, giving us all another excuse to grab one of the nation's favourite takeaways.
To mark National Fish and Chip Day, Morrisons has slashed the price of its usual chippy tea by offering up the popular dish. This Friday (June 2), the supermarket will be serving up half-priced food across its store, of which there's more than 400 to choose from.
Customers will be able to grab a chippy for just £3.49 today - a half price saving that will help those trying to keep costs down. Meanwhile, the Mini Fish Chips & Peas will be only £2.74 for the day so that the kids can tuck in too.

To redeem the offer, you'll need to be signed-up to the Morrison's loyalty scheme. Once you're signed up, you can scan your Morrisons More card at the cafe checkout and claim the half price offer. The newly launched Morrisons More Card also gives customers he chance to earn points on their shop, and Morrisons Fivers have also returned allowing customers the chance to earn 5,000 points with every £5 spent.
The offer follows another cost-saving initiative launched by the the supermarket chain last month. In April, Morrison's relaunched its ‘Ask for Henry’ concept after a successful run when it was first introduced in October 2022 to help those dealing with the cost of living crisis.
The initiative involved saw the retailer teaming up with Heinz to offer customers a free hot meal. Running until early May, anyone who ‘asks for Henry’ at a Morrisons café received a hot jacket potato topped with Heinz Beanz with salad for free.
Morrisons also has a Kids Eat Free offer in place all day every day. Under 16’s can get a free meal – including a piece of fruit and a drink when an adult purchases a meal costing £4.49 or more. It is worth keeping in mind that the deal cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers – except the Teatime Meal Deal..
As it National Fish and Chip Day, we've also shared the top five Greater Manchester fish and chips shops, as voted for by M.E.N readers and reviewed Ancoats' Hip Hop Chip Shop, which was named the second best chippy in the whole of the UK, earlier this week.
The hit fish and chip spot scored the accolade thanks to the crunching of a host of complex data, from Tripadvisor reviews to Instagram hashtags, but could data translate into a decent dinner? You can read our full review here.
