Morrisons has made a major change to its loyalty card scheme and has brought back its popular Morrisons More card.
The UK supermarket chain will be rolling out its More Card nationally from today to replace its current My Morrisons app.
The Morrisons More scheme allows customers to collect points, which they could then use to spend in stores and online.
Whilst the My Morrisons app, which was launched in 2021, instead gave shoppers personalised discounts and offers in stores.
This scheme did not give you a physical card automatically when you joined, it was just the app - but you could request a card if you wanted one.
Alongside this, Morrisons is bringing back Morrisons Fivers which gives customers a £5 voucher which they can redeem on a future shop when they earn 5,000 points.
In a similar vein to Tesco - members of the loyalty scheme will also be given discounts on certain products and brands.
The new More Card can be used as a physical card or on the app and you can earn points by purchasing selected products both in store and online.
Shoppers can also earn five points for every litre of fuel purchased at Morrisons forecourts - although this does not include its franchised branches.
Morrisons More members can also benefit from personalised and surprise - offers such as discount flowers on Mothers Day or sweets on Halloween - and basket bonuses.
Basket Bonuses include money off a future shop or a free gift from one of the supermarkets Market Street couters.
To get a Basket Bonus, all you need to do is scan your Morrisons More card or app at the checkout.
Rachel Eyre, chief customer and marketing officer at Morrisons, said: “Customers have been telling us how much they have missed the Morrisons Fivers and so we’ve brought them back as part of a radical overhaul of the Morrisons loyalty scheme.
"The new More Card - which replaces the My Morrisons scheme - will enable customers to earn points on selected purchases, including fuel, and redeem those points for fivers off their shopping.
" The card will also give customers access to exclusive More Card prices with market-leading discounts on customers’ favourites."
This week, Morrisons customers can bag more points for their purchases by scanning their Morrisons More card or app at the till.
Examples of extra points this week include:
- 100 More Points for every five pack of doughnuts (89p per pack)
- 500 More Points for every £5 spent at the pizza counter
- 600 More Points for every £6 spent in a Morrisons café
- 100 More Points for every British BBQ meat pack from the butcher’s counter.
Going forward Morrisons customers will also get:
- 20% off fresh fish from the Market Street fish counter each Friday
- 20% of British steaks from the Market Street butcher’s counter each Saturday
