Former Liverpool star Markus Babbel has tipped ex-Celtic defender Moritz Jenz for a Germany call-up as a reward for his stunning Schalke form.
The stopper spent the first half of the season on loan at Parkhead, but returned to Lorient before being shipped off again to Schalke, after a lack of game time under Ange Postecoglou. He's been widely praised for his form with Schalke after going undefeated in the seven games he's played for them, which has included five clean sheets.
And former German international Babbel has called for him to be included in Hansi Flick's squad. He said: "For me, Moritz Jenz has been absolutely outstanding. From the moment he made his debut, he has made sure Schalke don't concede goals anymore. He is very confident, very calm and I really like him. If he keeps this up, he should soon be in the national team."
And Jenz admitted it would be a huge honour to be called up by Germany. He said: "It's a nice compliment, but it's not just my performances, it has been down to the whole team. I can't say much about playing for Germany - it's not down to me. Of course, it would be very nice, because I played for Germany in the youth teams and would be proud to play for my country one day."
