West Australians are bracing for more scorching weather as another heatwave intensifies across large parts of the state.

Perth is tipped to climb to 39C on Thursday and 41C on Friday and Saturday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

The Mid West is expected to bear the brunt of the sizzling weather, with Geraldton forecast to reach a maximum of 41C on Thursday and 42C and 43C on Friday and Saturday.

Eneabba will climb to 45C on Saturday, while further north Gascoyne Junction is set to be hit with 47C on Saturday and 48C on Sunday.

A severe heatwave warning has been issued for coastal areas in the southern half of the state.

The baking weather comes hot on the heels of a record heatwave last week in which parts of Perth climbed above 45C and Geraldton reached maximums over 46C on consecutive days.

Perth is forecast to reach 36C on Wednesday and Geraldton is expecting a maximum of 38C with windy conditions.
