Holidaymakers travelling from Newcastle International Airport will soon be able to enjoy additional flights to Greece.
Newcastle Airport's newest airline partner, AEGEAN, will begin flights between Newcastle and Athens on June 14. And thanks to strong demand it has decided to extend its summer flying schedule up until October 25 – providing more opportunity for the North East travelling public to visit this brand new destination.
Greece is one of the most popular holiday destinations for people travelling from the North East. Now, AEGEAN will provide direct flights to Athens every Wednesday and Sunday.

Leon McQuaid, director of aviation development at Newcastle International Airport said: "We are delighted that AGEAN has chosen to invest in the North East with direct flights to Athens and beyond. With only a month to go until the route commences, it is great to see that the positive sales performance so far has resulted in AGEAN taking the decision to add another four weeks of flights, right up until the end of October.
"The route provides a fantastic opportunity for those wishing to visit Athens on a short city break or a longer holiday. Equally, passengers can connect via Athens onto AEGEAN's extended network of Greek islands as well as further afield including wider Europe and the Middle East."
Athens is regarded as Europe's most historic city, offering a range of spectacular sights, landmarks and museums. AEGEAN flights from Newcastle International Airport are on sale now at en.aegeanair.com/
