The West African nation of Ghana is the latest in a growing list of African countries that have received third-country nationals deported by the U.S. or agreed to receive them, a controversial approach whose legality lawyers for the deportees have questioned.
Other African nations that have received such deportees from the U.S. include Eswatini, Rwanda and South Sudan. Uganda has agreed to a deal with the U.S. to take certain deported immigrants, although it is yet to receive any.
