More AAP leaders join BJP in Himachal Pradesh

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered another jolt in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh on Monday with its State women wing president Mamta Thakur and four other members joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Ms. Thakur was the AAP’s Mahila Morcha president in Himachal Pradesh and joined the BJP in New Delhi in the presence of Union Minster Anurag Thakur. The other AAP members who joined the BJP include Sonia Bindal and Sangeeta, both State vice-presidents of the women’s wing; D.K. Tyagi, State president of the party’s industry wing, and Ashish Kumar, State vice-president, social media.

Last week, AAP’s Himachal Pradesh former president Anup Kesari, general secretary Satish Thakur and Una district chief Iqbal Singh joined the BJP.

The AAP last week sounded the poll bugle for the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, due later this year, by holding a roadshow in Mandi.

Party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, held the roadshow and sought ‘a chance’ from voters to form the next government in the State.
