A number of closures are planned for a major roundabout in Nottinghamshire. Saxondale Island, situated between Radcliffe-on-Trent and Bingham in Rushcliffe, will be shut overnight on Thursday, April 7.
It will be introduced at 8pm and be removed at 6am on Friday, April 8, after emergency roadworks are completed. Closures to the roundabout, which connects the A52 and A46, will force a number of buses to divert.
Trentbarton said its mainline service will have to divert via Shelford Top and Newton, meaning it will miss 10 stops. These stops are:
- New Road, Radcliffe
- Woodside Road
- Northfield Avenue
- Grantham Road
- Henson Lane, Radcliffe
- Saxondale Island
- Nottingham Road, Bingham
- Meadowsweet Hill
- Harvest Close
- White Lion, Bingham
The bus operator added that travellers from Nottingham will need to catch the bus at Bingham Market Place, whilst customers going to Bingham will need to alight at Long Acre. Customers for the missed stops in Radcliffe will need to use Vicarge Lane in both directions. "Delays are inevitable, so please allow extra time for your journeys," they said.
A series of roadworks have been carried out on the A52, particularly in the Radcliffe on Trent area, over the last year. There have been improvements to Nottingham Road and Cropwell Road junctions. Highways England also carried out utility works on the stretch of road last year - causing heavy traffic and delays, and work has also been carried out at the Bingham Road junction.
