An inspirational Scot who tipped the scales at 24 stone has bagged his dream job as a personal trainer after losing a whopping 140lbs. Tom O’Brien is set to marry the love of his life Shannah Lennox, 28, in just three weeks time after his impressive 10st weight loss gave him the confidence to start dating.
The 31-year-old believes an NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde referral for a discounted gym membership saved his life after previously bingeing on a diet of takeaways and four-packs of doughnuts. The fitness fanatic told how he was diagnosed with a fatty liver at the age of 24 which resulted in his GP sending him to Glasgow Club via the Live Active Scheme.
Tom, who now weighs 14 stone, told how he had now come full circle after qualifying as a PT this year and is now working at the same gym that saved him. He said: “I have Asperger’s Syndrome and had some other health issues in the past but I grew up very obese. High school was a tough time for me so I always turned to binge eating.
