Moopen family picks up additional stake in Aster DM Quality Care for Rs 350 cr

New Delhi: Aster DM Quality Care Ltd on Friday said that Dr Azad Moopen and family have increased their stake in the healthcare provider to around 24.58 per cent by buying an additional shareholding worth Rs 350 crore.

Union (Mauritius) Holdings Ltd, owned and promoted by Azad Moopen and family, has acquired an additional 0.57 per cent stake in Aster DM Quality Care Ltd for about Rs 350.34 crore, a regulatory filing stated.

Union (Mauritius) Holdings purchased 46.09 lakh equity shares from TPG-backed Centella Mauritius Holdings Ltd. The transaction, which took place on September 2, was executed at a price of Rs 760 per share, Aster DM Quality Care said in the filing. Dr Azad Moopen is executive chairman of Aster DM Quality Care.

With this acquisition, the Moopen family's total shareholding in the healthcare major has increased to about 24.58 per cent.

The company, formerly known as Aster DM HealthCare Limited - founded by Dr Moopen - was recently formed through the merger of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Limited.

The integrated platform will operate a network of 39 hospitals across 28 cities under brands including Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, Evercare, and KIMSHEALTH.
