'Moonlight Peaks' Reviews: Is This Life Sim Worth Checking Out?

Life sim games have always had a loyal following, and if you happen to be a fan of such games, there's a new one that has just been released on July 7.

It's none other than "Moonlight Peaks," and you get to become a vampire in this game. But before you go and buy, is it something that's worth your money?

'Moonlight Peaks'

Developed by Little Chicken and published by XSEED Games and Marvelous Europe, "Moonlight Peaks" lets players experience the life of a vampire residing in a magical town. In said magical town, you will encounter werewolves, witches, mermaids, and many more.

You'll also get to do a lot of interesting activities, including spell-casting, potion-making, and even raising mystical crops. You can also customize your cottage and build relationships with the citizens.

Along with all these, you'll also need to unravel the mysteries of the seven families that inhabit Moonlight Peaks. What that means, well, you'll have to play the game to find out.

What Do the Critics Say?

But is the game worth checking out?

According to Nintendo World Report, "'Moonlight Peaks' is a delightful cozy experience that is built for fans of the genre and welcoming enough to newcomers as well."

"The gothic vibes add freshness to a genre filled with replicas, and the transformations and spells, while not perfect, make for a pleasant complement," Nintendo World Report's review explains. "There's plenty to do on your monstrous homestead and a charming collection of neighbors into whose lives you can insert yourself, however much you choose."

On Metacritic, the game has a score of 80 based on 13 critic reviews as of press time.

GamePro Germany gave "Moonlight Peaks" the score of 75, noting that "'Moonlight Peaks' is a good farming sim with likeable characters, but it doesn't make the most of the vampire theme."

Impulsegamer, on the other hand, gave it a score of 94.

"It's a world that's easy to get lost in, full of characters worth getting to know and enough activities that the farm often became the last thing on my mind," Impulsegamer said. "30 hours in, I still don't feel like I've seen everything 'Moonlight Peaks' has to offer, and I have a feeling I won't be putting it down for quite some time yet."

'Very Positive' Reviews on Steam

As for Steam, "Moonlight Peaks" has more than 500 user reviews as of press time, which have been classified by the platform as "Very Positive."

"I really underestimated the charm of this game," Steam user Cineroll said in a review. "It's genuinely funny and well written while being so incredibly cozy."

"I really like having two different portrait art style options right from the get go," Cineroll added. "This has already left a memorable impression on me and I'm only a little ways in. I have a feeling this will end up being a fast favorite."

"I wasn't sure how I felt about this at first, it felt like a gothic fae farm at first—but the characters are all pretty unique and great," Steam user Starsuck said in a separate review. "The art style is also beautiful."
