Monty Python star Eric Idle has withdrawn from his planned tour of Australia and New Zealand after doctors advised him not to go ahead with the shows.

The 83-year-old comedian apologised to fans who had tickets for his An Evening of Idle Conversation tour, which was due to run throughout November and December.
