Months of roadworks planned in Keyworth as £2.4m Severn Trent project set to begin

Villagers can expect to experience roadworks for several months as work is soon expected to start on the replacement of aging water pipes in the area. The first phase of Severn Trent's £2.4million project in Keyworth will begin on Station Road, close to the railway bridge, on January 23.

The work to replace the water pipes in the area will be carried out in four phases and it will progress along Station Road towards Nicker Hill. It is expected that the project will be completed by mid-July.

The first phase will last four weeks and each following phase will last five weeks, beginning on February 20, March 27 and May 1. Although work will not begin until the end of this month, Severn Trent engineers may be seen in the fields nearby from January 9 as they make preparations.

During the work, road closures will be in place with temporary traffic lights at junctions near the closures. Customers in Keyworth are being invited by Severn Trent to attend a drop-in session about the project, which will take place on January 11.

This session will be held at Keyworth United Community Football Club on Platt Lane from 3.30pm to 6.30pm. It will give residents a chance to ask questions about the project.

Rebecca Ball, community communications officer, said: “Our drop-in sessions provide a great opportunity for customers to ask us any questions about the project. Customer feedback is really important to us, and we look forward to meeting our customers in Keyworth to discuss these network upgrades and how they will benefit the local community for generations to come.

“In order to keep both the engineers and other road users safe, and for us to complete our work as quickly as possible, there will be a road closure in place as well as temporary traffic lights at junctions where the closure is located. We'll close the road in sections and a signposted diversion will be in place as a route around the working area.

"We’d like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out this work.”
