Monsters in Dumfries' Loreburn Hall for Hallowe’en

There will be monsters in Dumfries’ Loreburn Hall on Monday night waiting to dance.

The Big Burns Supper volunteers have organised the Hallowe’en event, Monsters in the Hall, for October 31 and it is open to all interested youngster wanting spooktacular fun from 5pm to 8pm – and it is free to join in.

There will be old fashioned games such as dookin’ for apples, a competition for the best Hallowe’en costume, and interactive storytelling by actors.

Graham Main, executive producer of Big Burns Supper said: “This is a nice wee opportunity for families to drop in to a safe space which has been created by a community.

“Our volunteers have been busy making tablet, treacle toffee and all sorts of other delights. Dumfries community at its best.

“Doonhamers who do not normally get to go guising are encouraged to drop into the space to trick or treat, and play some games.

“Those who already guise might want to drop in for half an hour after they have been trick or treating around their own neighbours.”

The Monsters Ball will include different interactive areas with each room decorated in different themes, and there will be a large dance floor so that everyone can join in.

Youngsters are invited to come in costumes and all will be entered into the best dressed competition and stalls will be laid out so that children of any age can take part in some of the games that parents and grandparents might have played.

The event is ticketed, and though drop in is encouraged, free tickets can be booked online through www.bigburnssupper.com, or by popping into Loreburn Hall between 10am and 5pm from today.
