Monster Hunter Rise is delisting the Sonic DLC in January

Cheap Nintendo Switch game deals sales.

Capcom has announced that it will be delisting several pieces of Monster Hunter Rise collaboration content in January.

This comes from a new post shared to Twitter today (November 29) where the publisher stated that the Sonic the Hedgehog, Universal Studios Japan, and Sengan-en DLC content will no longer be available in the game to download after January 21, 2024 (via VGC).

Players who currently own the DLC will be able to continue using them as long as they have it downloaded before the deadline.

However, after the content has been delisted, even those who own it won't be able to download it again and will therefore not be able to receive the rewards or obtain the respective quests.

“Please download this free content before [January 21] to keep using it as normal. You won’t be able to redownload it," Capcom said.

The collaboration content that will be delisted can be read below:

Sonic the Hedgehog

  • Event Quest: Gotta Hoard Fast!
Rewards: Sonic Costume Palico armor, Tails Canyne layered armor, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails figurines.
  • Event Quest: Super Shay Look-alike
Rewards: Sonic Wear Hunter layered armor

Universal Studios Japan

  • Event Quest: USJ – Shine Showdown!
Rewards: Azure Star Blade weapon, Azure Era Wyrmbow weapon
  • Event Quest: USJ – Azuros Onslaught!
    Rewards: Azure Era Palico set
  • Downloadable Palico: Meow Limit!

Sengan-en

  • Downloadable Palico: Yasu

Capcom hasn't stated the reason for the content's removal, but it's likely due to an expired licensing agreement.

Similar licensing issues have occurred before, like in the instance of Friday the 13th: The Game which is being forced to close its online servers indefinitely in 2024 after its license expires and it's delisted from sale at the end of 2023.

Monster Hunter Rise is available on PS5Xbox Series X|SNintendo SwitchPS4Xbox One, and PC if you want to grab those collaboration content packs before they're gone for good.
