New Delhi: The suspended MPs from both Houses of Parliament have continued with their 50 hour long dharna inside the Parliament precincts on Thursday demanding immediate revocation of their suspension.
The MPs are protesting their suspension from the Houses saying they only demanded discussion on price rise, GST rate hike etc calling the issues- urgent.
Twenty four MPs - 20 in Rajya Sabha and 4 in Lok Sabha- have been suspended during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The suspended MPs belong to the Congress, DMK, AITC, TRS, CPI, CPM and AAP.
"50 hour non-stop dharna by Opposition MPs. 21 hours done. 29 hours to go. Revoke suspension of 24 MPs. Discuss price rise, GST," said AITC MP Derek O' Brien in a tweet.
Brien also shared some pictures of the MPs passing their night out in the open under the sky.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that there has been a 170 per cent increase in suspension of MPs under the current government as compared to UPA.
The 19 Rajya Sabha MPs were suspended on Tuesday for the remaining part of the week for unruly behaviour and for creating ruckus in the well of the House despite repeated warnings by the Chair.
While the AAP lawmaker Sanjay Singh was suspended on Wednesday for the remaining part of the current week as he tore up some papers on Tuesday at and threw the same towards the Chair.
The Opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha protested the move to suspend 19 of its MPs raising 'We want justice' slogans inside the House.
