A top European health official has called on governments, health partners and civil society need to act with urgency to control the Monkeypox outbreak.
On Tuesday, the WHO announced that next week it will convene an Emergency Committee under the International Health Regulations to advise on whether the current spread of monkeypox in non-endemic countries constitutes a public health emergency of international concern.
Hans Kluge, WHO regional director for Europe, said that Europe remains the epicentre of an escalating outbreak with 25 countries reporting more than 1500 cases, or 85% of the global total.
