As monkeypox cases continue to rise, with around confirmed 1,600 cases recorded globally in the last two months, scientists are looking for a new name for the virus.
Caused by the monkeypox virus, which is a less severe member of the same family of viruses as smallpox, monkeypox causes a rash that looks similar to chickenpox.
It's thought it spreads when someone is in close contact with an infected person, with warnings issued against having sex while suffering monkeypox symptoms.
