A money saving mum has revealed how she does her Christmas shopping for as little as 49p by visiting high street stores many people walk straight past. With the cost of living crisis set to disrupt Christmas for many families this year, her tip has gone down a storm with shoppers.
Shops like Home Bargains and B&M have some really cheap bits on offer. But one mum has taken it a step further on her mission to keep Christmas costs as low as possible, and has started to search inside charity shops.
Rachel Hutchinson, or ‘rachmariex’ as she is known on TikTok, shares with her 53,000 followers tips and tricks for buying fantastic festive presents at a fraction of the cost. Rachel’s videos show how charity shopping can provide stacks of Christmas gifts for children without breaking the bans.

One commenter said: “Bloody brilliant!!! I am going to hit up my charity shops! 1000% inspired me.” A recent video showed a haul which provided a pile of prezzies for her little girls, including brand new bath products, stationary, and a whole bag of Barbie dolls for just £3.99.
The cheapest gift in her haul cost just 49p. She told viewers: “ I got this Magic Maths set which was £2.99 and it is all there because I do double check. I got these bath bombs that have got slime inside, they were 99p. I got another Secret Safe diary because my other little girl has got one, that was £2.99.
“I got this huge bag of Barbies, there’s loads of different Barbies in here and I’m going to do them all up, dress them up, they don’t know any different and they were £3.99 and there’s absolutely loads in here, plus loads of little accessories."
