A mum who shared photos of the cheap alternative to a takeaway that she made for her daughter has been slammed by other parents who accused her of feeding her six year old "rubbish". As the cost of living crisis continues to bite, most people are looking for ways to save cash and often share their tips with online in a bid to help others slash their expenses.
Impressed with how much money she had managed to save on a pizza takeaway for her family, Leigh Rubidge took to a budget group on Facebook to share the meal she had created using Asda's Just Essentials products - but her creation was slammed by fellow parents. The single mum bought a cheese and tomato pizza and a garlic bread from the budget range and added some Asda mozzarella sticks to create a 'fakeaway' that cost her just £2.23, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Leigh said the cheap creation was a big hit with her "fussy" six-year-old daughter and helped her make a huge saving compared to the £20 she would usually spend on a takeaway. But Leigh was shocked that a lot of the comments in the budget Facebook group she shared her post in were negative, claiming she was feeding her child unhealthy food.
