As the 2023 Amazon Spring Sale gallops into the final furlough, the online retail giant is still expected to pump out flash deals until it concludes at 11.59pm tonight (Wednesday, March 29) but with thousands of deals to choose from it can be hard to know where to look.
The Money Saving Expert team have been busy exploring some of the biggest discounts and flash deals to see if they are going to save shoppers money or not. As is typical with Amazon, some deals run for just a few hours while others have remained on sale throughout the three-day event.
To keep things fresh, there are also plenty of Lightening Deals popping up as often as every five minutes, which last for several hours or until they run out of stock.

How good are the deals?
According to Money Saving Expert (MSE), there were over 20,000 items in the sale on Tuesday, including larger discounts on Amazon devices, such as the Echo Show.
Some of the best deals recommended by MSE, include:
Toni & Guy Deep barrel hair waver (32 mm) - £17.82 (was £25). Next cheapest £17.99 at Justmylook.
Whiskas 1+ chicken adult cat dry food (7kg bag) – £18.19 (was £28.92). Next cheapest £21.49 at Pets at home.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Live wireless earphones – £69 (was £139) PRICE MATCHED at Argos.
Shark Anti Hair Wrap cordless stick vacuum cleaner IZ202UK – £195.80 (was £349.99). Still full price at Currys, Argos and AO.
While the deals on Amazon devices also look pretty good at first sight, the retailer typically reduces their own brand tech at other times of the year including Black Friday and Boxing Day. In some instances, they may have been cheaper before:
Echo Dot (3rd Gen) – £19.99 (was £39.99), £16.99 on Black Friday
Echo Dot (5th gen) in charcoal – £29.99 (was £54.99), £26.99 on Black Friday
Fire TV stick 4K – £39.99 (was £59.99), £27.99 in Boxing Day sales
Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) – £44.99 (was £74.99), £34.99 on Black Friday
Kindle Paperwhite 8GB* – £104.99 (was £139.99), £139.99 in Boxing Day sales
Savvy shoppers are, however, still finding ways to save even more money during the sale. Combining sale prices with this limited-time cashback deal from TopCashback, for example, shoppers could pick up an Echo Dot speaker for less than £5.
How to work out if you are getting the most for your money
While Amazon is easy to buy from, it isn’t always the cheapest. Shoppers should research their Wishlist before buying, and the team at Money Saving Expert recommends doing the following:
Use a 'shopbot' comparison tool to find its cheapest online price. Be careful though, as some shopbots can leave out or favour certain retailers.
Look out for potential price-matching from retailers such as Argos, Currys and John Lewis, who may offer a longer guarantee on some products for free.
Use a price tracker. Amazon prices go up and down regularly, so it's also worth checking if a price is at its lowest using the Amazon price tracker Camelcamelcamel – that way you’ll see if it is a deal at all.
Amazon Warehouse
Money Saving Expert also recommends checking out the ‘hidden’ Amazon Warehouse department that offers deals on returned or mildly damaged items.
There is currently 20% off selected products in the Amazon Warehouse as part of the Spring Sale, but earlier this month the same department had a code for 30% off, so compare prices using a comparison tool before you buy.
Only buy what you need
The final piece of pertinent advice for the Money Saving Experts gurus applies to all sales and is something any of us can fall prey to.
On their website, they say: “Don’t allow yourself to be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your price comparisons to ensure you're getting the best deal – don’t just take Amazon's word for it.”
