Read on below for all the details, and find out if you've been keeping certain foods in the wrong place.

What should I be keeping in the fridge?

This is always a debate in households, should ketchup go in the fridge, where do I stick my bread? Here's what should be in the fridge, according to their food labels:

  • Eggs
  • Oranges
  • Most fruits and vegetables, with exceptions
  • Milk
  • Meats and protein
  • Dairy in general - yoghurts, cheese etc

And here's what shouldn't go in the fridge:

  • Potatoes
  • Bananas
  • Onions
  • Pineapples
  • Bread

These foods should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Other tips that Martin Lewis gives to keep the weekly food shop price down include:

  • Use leftovers to make different recipes to empty your fridge before restocking
  • Have an 'eat it first' section so products don't go to waste
  • Meal planning
  • Store bread in the freezer to keep it for longer
