Martin Lewis has warned thousands of people on benefits will miss out on the £650 cost of living payment. He spoke out during a Q and A with the Chancellor Rishi Sunak.
The presenter and money saving expert has said that some people who receive benefits such as PIP, ESA and Carers Allowance face missing out on the payment. Speaking on the programme, Mr Lewis said: "She's right. Carers save the government millions by caring - they are asking you for help in a crisis."
Birmingham Live reports that Mr Sunak's response was: "Very simply, our existing system is the best guide we have to those who are in need. That 8million are on means tested benefits. This is where the majority of calls were from for help.
