MOTORSPORT fans will have the chance to marvel at an iconic Red Bull F1 racing car at a major Scottish festival.
The highly successful team helped young Dutch ace Max Verstappen to the Formula One world title last year.
Now Red Bull is going to treat the crowds at the Sir Jackie Stewart Classic event to the thrilling sight and sounds of a modern grand prix car.
The machine going on show on June 18 and 19 at Thirlestane Castle, in the Borders, is the RB8 that Aussie star Mark Webber drove to victory on the streets of Monaco in 2012.
Enthusiasts will be able to get up close and personal with the stunning Adrian Newey-designed motor. And renowned Austrian racer Patrick Friesacher will put it through its paces on the sprint course at the venue, near Lauder, twice daily.
Back in 2012, Webber had qualified the Red Bull car on pole position and led from start to finish. At the time, he said: “The start was key, the pitstop was key, both of them went well.
"I did a little bit of work in between and we got an incredible victory that I’m very, very happy with.”
The RB8 will be on show alongside the three stunning title-winning cars driven by Sir Jackie – the 1969 Matra that powered him to his first championship and the Tyrrell 003 and Tyrrell 006.
The family-friendly festival – in aid of Race Against Dementia – will also feature live motorsport action, as well as extensive retail, food and drink displays.
It will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Borders Vintage Automobile Club and their award-winning classic car show.
