Moment Storm Malik sends Leeds bar's marquee flying across beer garden

Storm Malik has caused havoc across Leeds today as winds reached up to nearly 60mph.

Trees and fences have fallen down, allotments have been smashed, and travel has been disrupted around the city.

One bar and grill in Roundhay dramatically lost its entire outdoor marquee as the strong gales dislodged it earlier this morning.

Video footage captured early this morning shows Banyan on Street Lane's marquee struggling in the wind before disconnecting from its attachments and slamming into the restaurant.

Twitter user @Barnsleyfan71 captured the footage at 5.09am.

He told LeedsLive: "I was driving past and noticed it was struggling so I quickly started filming and BOOM, it just took off. Something flew up and just missed the top window if you study it."
