On-board footage released by Greater Manchester Police shows how the dramatic chase unfolded.
PC Berry, from the force’s Roads Policing Unit, can be seen pursuing Leigh on Wigan Road towards the M61 before following the drug-driver on to Atherleigh Way.
It’s on that road where he hits the top speed of 96mph, as indicated by the car’s camera.
He does so despite the terrible weather — with PC Berry telling colleagues “It is raining, the road surface is wet.”
He continued to go after a stinger deployed by another traffic cop failed to slow him.
Eventually, the suspect abandons his car on Oxford Road.
Kien Leigh was given a nine-month prison sentence for his crimes, with a judge praising PC Berry’s ‘professionalism’, a GMP spokesperson said.
“PC Berry of our Roads Policing Unit pursued Kien Leigh (22) for 20 minutes reaching speeds of 90+mph,” a tweet said. “Leigh's now been jailed for nine months.
“During the sentencing the judge praised PC Berry for his professionalism throughout the pursuit, which began after Leigh made off from police.
“No one was injured but the pursuit highlights the risk and danger our officers can often be faced with when policing our road network.”
