A Chinook military aircraft has been spotted flying over homes in Bristol this evening (Wednesday, June 15). The Boeing CH-47 has been captured on film making its way over St George.
It is not clear where the RAF helicopter landed but according to aircraft tracking site Globe.adsexchange.com, it begun its journey from the Royal Air Force station located at Benson, near Wallingford in South Oxfordshire. Chinooks are based at Benson as well as at RAF Odiham in Hampshire.
The flight path logged on the tracker shows it flew over Keynsham, Longwell Green, Hanham, Speedwell, Stapleton, Lockleaze and Filton before crossing above the M5 and the Prince of Wales Bridge into Wales. A witness in St George said it looked "huge" as it flew over houses at about 6.30pm.

People travelling elsewhere in the South West might spot one of the helicopters on the road rather than in the sky. As reported by Gloucestershire Live, a Chinook is set to be escorted through the Cotswolds tomorrow morning (Thursday, June 16) from Burford to Wiltshire - and drivers are being warned to plan ahead of time.
A Gloucestershire Constabulary statement reads: "The escort will be entering the county via the A40 at Burford initially travelling along the A40 to Northleach. It will then join the A429 and continue onto the A417/A419 at Cirencester for it's onward journey through Wiltshire.
"Due to the size of the load and the escort taking narrow roads, drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys or find alternative routes. Officers would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause."
