Molly-Mae Hague has opened up about her relationship with fillers and cosmetic procedures, after first getting her lips plumped up at the tender age of 18.
Now 23, the reality star, reflected how she found herself in a "vicious cycle" which led her to have a "full package" involving "God knows" injected into her face after returning home to the U.K following her appearance on Love Island in 2019.
Molly-Mae talked about how she felt "horrendous" after getting cheek filler, jaw filler and lip filler in Los Angeles, with her "swollen face" prompting a string of nasty comments from trolls who compared her to an Xbox controller.
"It looked horrendous. Someone took a screenshot from that video and it went viral. "What's Molly done to her face?" was the response. I was mortified," the former reality TV star writes in an extract of her book obtained by the Sunday Times.
"The reality was that my once-sharp jawline had jowls hanging underneath, my lips felt lumpy, uneven and unnatural."
The brutal comment came after Molly-Mae shared a vlog with her fans just one day after having filler injected into her face, meaning swelling was still visible so soon after the procedure.
Despite noting that she knew the swelling would go down, the star claims it was the moment she decided she would dissolve the fillers in her face.
"I didn't feel prettier. I didn't feel better. Filler had made me feel worse," Love Island's most successful post-show contestant writes in her debut literary offering.
The star famously went on to turn her back on cosmetic tweakments last year - dissolving all her filler and her composite bonded pearly whites removed - and now rocks a fresh-faced, natural look.
Molly-Mae candidly informed her fans she was shunning cosmetic surgery and tweakments in 2020 - going on chronicle her journey to return to her natural appearance with her loyal YouTube subscribers.
"I feel like I'm still definitely going through the process of trying to make everything as natural as I possibly can," the star told viewers of vlog after beginning the process of having her lip fillers dissolved.
"I made that many mistakes when I was younger I'm genuinely still trying to correct them now."
Speaking in her latest interview with the Sunday Times, Molly-Mae mused whether she would have ever succumbed to the lure of cosmetic surgery had she not been in the public eye.
"It was a big thing for me to be honest about that. I was embarrassed, but I realised other girls are going through this as well. This could really be a bit of a movement," the star explained when discussing her decision to dissolve her fillers.
When asked is she would have the work done had she not been in the public eye, she replied: "I don't know. At the end of the day, it happened and I'm so blessed that I could fix it."
