Molly-Mae Hague threw her fans into a panic on Sunday as she shared a photo of a pregnant belly to commemorate Mother’s Day – prompting many to assume she was expecting herself.
The 22-year-old reality star is something of a master when it comes to creating a buzz online – with social media posts, YouTube videos and more often orchestrated to make a splash to her fans.
But even the most devout followers were left to do a double take over the weekend as Molly-Mae sparked pregnancy rumours with an artfully photographed baby bump.
Taking to Instagram, the Love Island star uploaded a string of images to her Stories – including one featuring a topless women cradling a baby bump and concealing her modestly with strategically placed folds of a dressing gown.
A caption for the image read: “To all the Mum’s… today’s all about you.”
While a closer look at the image showed that the pregnant woman in question was in fact a model named India Ward – who is currently heavily pregnant.
The illusion sparked alarm among Molly-Mae’s fans, with many remaking that they had been led to believe the star – who has been dating her Love Island boyfriend Tommy Fury since 2019 – was expecting.
One shocked fan commented: “I thought u were pregnant.”
And another gasped: “Shut up i had a heart attack.”
Molly-Mae has made no secret of her desire to become a mother – frequently teasing that she and Tommy have discussed marriage and kids.
However, her most recent, and highly personal, address to fans via YouTube, Molly-Mae explained that she finds intercourse with Tommy excruciatingly painful as she suffers from endometriosis – a medical condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows elsewhere within the female reproductive system, causing pelvic pain.
Molly-Mae explained: “My two main symptoms have been the excruciating periods and the excruciating sex.
“I will be honest, I do believe the painful sex symptom is what pushed me into getting my problem fixed, into working out what was wrong with my body because not only was I doing it for me and fixing it for me, which is obviously the main reason, I was also trying to do it for Tommy.
“In regards to the painful sex, that unfortunately never changed, it is something that is an ongoing issues.
“I had a blood test and MRI scan because I am going to see a specialist in London in regards to that situation.”
She went on to explain that Tommy has been “so understanding and so caring” as she continues to have her condition assessed and treated.
Going to to give more insight into the pain she experiences, the reality star said: “It got so bad, I would be rolling in bed and I would actually be fearful for my life, thinking for my body to be in this much agonising pain, what is it going through?
“I genuinely used to be in that much pain that I was fearful I wouldn’t wake up in the morning. It was so so horrendous.”
