Molly-Mae Hague defended by Tommy Fury after Jake Paul's 'breadwinner' swipe ahead of fight

Molly-Mae Hague has been heaped with praise from her boyfriend Tommy Fury as Jake Paul continues to take aim at the couple ahead of his and Tommy's scheduled fight. Molly-Mae is currently flying solo at home after boxer Tommy flew out to Saudi Arabia to prepare for his much-anticipated fight with YouTube star turned MMA fighter Jake Paul, which takes place on Sunday, February 26.

Tommy, 23, and Jake, 26, were initially supposed to have a bout back in 2021 but Tommy pulled out after suffering a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib. Another scheduled fight in August was then pulled but ahead of Molly-Mae giving birth to their first child, it was announced that the pair would finally go head-to-head in February.

And with days to go until they face each other in the ring, Jake has taken a fresh dig at the loved-up couple, who met on Love Island in 2019, as he claimed Tommy will be able to begin providing for his family by getting a huge payday by facing the American.

"He has kind of been forced into this by the fans, the media, his family and probably Molly," Jake said on BT Sport ahead of the clash. "She is probably sitting there going, 'Yo I just had a baby (daughter, Bambi) I can't be the one to pay the bills the entire time'. He is going to be paid 20k a fight, minus taxes, he can only pay for so many diapers. It's a hard business.

"This is his biggest pay day and he is going to actually be able to support his family a little bit if he gets a good wealth manager and invests his money properly. Molly is probably like, yeah bro I'm tired of being the bread-winner of this relationship."

Meanwhile, Tommy has heaped praise on Molly-Mae, who gave birth to the pair's first child last month. The couple welcomed baby Bambi into the world on January 23 in a hospital in London after sighting privacy reasons for not welcoming their little girl into the world in the North West where they live.

Announcing her arrival to their millions of social media followers on January 30 with a sweet black and white snap of the new family-of-three. They then announced 24 hours later that they had named their little girl the Disney-inspired name, Bambi. Influencer Molly-Mae has since got back in front of the camera on her YouTube channel to share all about her labour, saying Tommy, also 23, saw 'everything' and 'sobbed' the whole time.

Speaking about Molly-Mae, 23, to the BBC's Newsbeat ahead of his fight, Tommy said: "Molly's took it upon herself to deal with everything herself. She hasn't bothered me once about anything. She's been absolutely amazing. I think people need to stand up and give her a lot of credit for that."

Tommy has been criticised online for being away a lot preparing for the fight while Molly-Mae was pregnant and is now spent a number of weeks away from her girlfriend and his daughter. But he says the fight with Jake is so big that he wasn't able to take much time off from training.

"It's such a serious fight that you can't break training camp," Tommy said. "And these are the sort of sacrifices that I've made in the lead up to this. It is what it is, what can you do? I'll make up for it when I'm home."

Earlier this week Tommy, who is the half-brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, shared a glimpse of a FaceTime call he had with his girlfriend and daughter whilst away preparing for his fight. Molly-Mae could be seen smiling whilst wearing her blonde hair down and sporting a natural makeup look as she held a sleeping Bambi in her arms whilst she wore a cute blue baby grow.

Tommy could be seen in the top right corner beaming with pride as he shared a promise to his first child. "Daddy will be home soon," he sweetly wrote alongside a screenshot of the call, with a love heart and world emojis.
